Race Results

SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX

As always a gorgeous venue, and this time no rains to disrupt the racing. As with all the street courses, Safety Car segments play a role in the championships.

Podium winners please post your press release by Tuesday midnight.

GRAN PREMIO D'ITALIA

Ferrari in Italy -- certainly no greater combination for passion in a sport.

Congratulations to The Backmarker! for their win, and to Scuderia Globex and the Red Bull Racers for the podium spots.

BELGIAN GRAND PRIX

Spa in the rain! Nature-assisted action kept the interest going throughout the race. The relative (structural) strengths of the cars really came to light today.

Congratulations to Taz Surfers for their win, and to Clingfilm Rockets and Ackmann Racing for the podium spots.

FORMULA 1 MAGYAR NAGYDIJ

No Speed TV here at the hotel, so no semi-witty non-spoiler summaries this time.

Congratulations to Scuderia Modificata for the win, and to Red Bull Racers, CBL Corse and Team BRR for filling out the podium.

GROSSER PREIS VON DEUTSCHLAND

With the top contenders separated by literally microseconds in qualifying, the German GP has the potential for fireworks up and down the grid. It was a race that showed the true heart and soul of modern F1 sportsmanship.

Congratulations to The Backmarker! for the win, and to Scuderia Globex and F1 Galizia for the podium finishes.

BRITISH GRAND PRIX

As we head into the second half of the season, it's becoming very obvious that there are frictions between teammates across the field. While that doesn't lend itself to smart racing, at least it's interesting to watch.

Congratulations to Clingfilm Rockets for the second win in a row, and to Scuderia Modificata and Slipstream GP for filling out the podium.

GRAND PRIX OF EUROPE

Valencia, the race around the shipping containers...

When an onboard camera shows track, sky, sky, sky and ground, it's not likely that car is returning to the fray. The resulting safety car really jumbled the on-track standings, leading to some unexpected consequences.

Congratulations to Clingfilm Rockets for the win, and to Taz Surfers and Slipstream GP for filling out the podium.

GRAND PRIX DU CANADA

Warm weather and weak tires led to a fairly interesting race, assisted of course by the trading of carbon fiber. Would the annual safety car parade continue?

Congratulations to Slipstream GP for the second win in a row, and to Clingfilm Rockets and Taz Surfers for filling out the podium.

TURKISH GRAND PRIX

Ah, the teammate. The one guy on the track a driver can trust. The one guy who shares the hopes and aspirations and goals of the team. What could possibly go wrong?

Congratulations to Slipstream GP for the win, and to Taz Surfers and Ackmann Racing for filling out the podium.

GRAND PRIX DE MONACO

Alonso starting in pit lane, Red Bulls at the front, and a bunch of rookies in between. Perhaps the making of a legendary race?

Congratulations to Scuderia Modificata for the win, and to Red Bull Racers, CBL Corse, and TeamBRR for for the podium finishes.

GRAN PREMIO DE ESPANA TELEFÓNICA

Spain is known for front-row winners. Would the pattern hold in the 2010 competition?

4 teams make the podium and 12 are in the points as the points championship tightens again.

Congratulations to Scuderia Modificata for the win, and to TeamBRR, Red Bull Racers, and CBL Corse for the podium finishes.

CHINESE GRAND PRIX

Rain rain, please stay -- it makes the races more interesting. Tire gambles and pit road scrambles, and maybe, just maybe, the return of the Rainmeister?

Congratulations to Slipstream GP for the maiden win, and to F1Galizia and Taz Surfers for the podium finishes.

PETRONAS MALAYSIAN GRAND PRIX

As expected, the rains in qualifying resulted in an exciting race. Perhaps all Gran Prix tracks should be equipped with random sprinkler systems?

Congratulations to Scuderia Modificata for the win, and to Team BRR and Red Bull Racers for the podium finishes.

AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX

An interesting race that was contested to the end, Australia certainly captured our attention.

Congratulations to F1Galizia for the win, and to Scuderia Globex and Lena Tecnologia for the podium finishes.

GULF AIR BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX

Well, the first race showed that the new point system will really change the complexion of real world and fantasy competition. The boom or bust teams will run hot or cold, but expect significant point swings during the season.

Congratulations to The Backmarker! for the win, and to Lena Tecnologia and F1Galizia for the podium finishes.

Launch Week 2010!

Welcome back 2009 Champion Team Really Green

This team was the first ever to win the Constructors' and Drivers' Championship in its rookie season. Congratulations!

"We believe we can successfully defend our titles and become the first team in IFGP history to win back-to-back - At least that's our goal! It does seem that some of the traditional powers are back in their rightful positions atop the timesheets, but with the influx of newbie "mobile chicane" style teams this season looks to be about as wide open as ever," said Team Principle Fast_Ian.

Welcome back CBL Corse

This rookie team started slow last season, but a restructure of the team and aggressive use of R&D helped push the team to an impressive second place. The team visited the podium 10 times, and won 4 races.

"We've done our research throughout the offseason and think we have assembled an extraordinary team for this season. Our 2009 debut in IFGP was an amazing success that none of us here in LA would have predicted. We had a slow start and a bit of a learning curve understanding the rules last season that unfortunately left us unable to compete for the top spot by the time we put together our full team, but we now have a great foundation, and this season we have assembled a very aggressive lineup," said Team Principle Matt.

Welcome back Scuderia Modificata

This team started the season with an early string of victories, but hope for back-to-back championships faded down the stretch. Although the team ended up winning 4 races, they were all at the start of the season.

"We weren't happy about losing to rookie teams, but everyone knows 2009 was a very strange year for Formula One. We expect 2010 to be a bit more.....rational," said Team Principle Tillman

The team also announced that their primary sponsor, Bubba's Beer Bait and Ammo, will return, along with the ever-popular Rovin' Redneck Hospitality Tent.

Welcome back WebberswebF1

This team stormed to its best ever season finish, placing 4th in the 2009 contest. With 2 victories and 8 total trips to the podium, it was a solid year for the Ozzy Gas-backed team.

"I am looking forward to another year with IFGP, after our best season so far since joining. We are hoping to keep up the good work this year, after a better understanding of the teams," said team principle Caz

Welcome back TeamBRR

The 2007 champion won 4 races and was on the podium 3 additional times during the 2009 campaign.

Team principle Laura is thrilled with the team's formation; the team is running both Ferrari drivers, but is hedging its bet with Red Bull power and chassis. Will spreading the field bring this team to the top?

Welcome back Gamma Blast Racing

Gamma Blast was on the podium twice last season, but failed to win a race. "We are excited with our car/line-up combo and hope to be in the upper third of the field and maybe even win our first race," said Team Principle Gamma Chad.

Exciting times are ahead for Gamma Blast. They are moving their world headquarters at the end of March. "We promise to give an exclusive tour to Speed and will be certain to tape more than one Pirrelli poster on the wall by the lone CNC machine," quipped Gamma Chad.

Welcome back Ackmann Racing

Ackmann Racing won in Singapore last year, and finished 7th. It was a very good result for a rookie team.

They begin their sophomore season with a diverse lineup. Split across Mercedes GP, McLaren and Ferrari, the team should put up consistent points -- provided Red Bull doesn't dominate!

Welcome back Red Bull F1

Perennial favorite Red Bull F1 finished 8th last season with a single visit to the podium. They return in 2010 with a completely revamped lineup that leans heavily on Ferrari and Red Bull.

Given the pre-season pace of both of those teams, this lineup should produce plenty of points and help make Red Bull F1 a contender.

Welcome back F1Galizia

F1 Galizia returns in 2010 with a very similar lineup as they ran at the end of the 2009 season. Three drivers return and the the team is still powered by Mercedes/McLaren power.

The team won a race last year and was on the podium three more times, which actually matched the team's 2008 results. We shall see if they beat that record in 2010.

Welcome back TheBackmarker!

Founding member The Backmarker! finished in the top 10 last season. This is particularly impressive given that the team never made the podium in 2009. Consistent point finishes kept the team in contention through the season.

The team returns with a lineup that is built around Ferrari. Given the pre-season pace of the Scuderia, this may be The Backmarker!'s year.

Welcome back Team Scarlet Racers

This team scored 4 podiums during its debut season, but post-race communication issues led to an official finish well below their actual performance. Still, only 6 of the established teams managed to beat the squad; certainly a solid performance.

The team appears to be hedging its bets somewhat this year, spreading their team across the favored drivers and hardware. If they can find their way to the press room, they should be strong competitors. (Hint: don't follow Peter Windsor, he's lost!)

Welcome back Scuderia Globex

The 2008 Rookie of the Year had a hard sophomore season, but still managed to win a race and stand on the podium a second time. They return to the fray with high hopes in 2010. The team lineup includes three former WDC championship winners, and what appears to be a strong engine/chassis combination.

Welcome back Lena Tecnologia

Tifosi through-and-through, Lena Tecnologia returns with a Ferrari-heavy lineup. This lineup was apparently picked by Janitorial Services Engineer Adrianna, based on the press release issued by the team.

"Lena Tecnologia returns for its 3rd season and after 2 seasons of disappointment there has been a reorganization," the team announced. In addition to the change at top, there had been a change in focus within the team. "For the first two years Lena Tecnologia has focused on engineering and development, for the first time a Marketing Director has been hired. Bishop Lay has slithered into the new job and should be a great addition, Lampropeltis getula californiae has a reputation for being a ruthless marketer and constricting the competitions efforts."

Welcome back SSX Racing

2004 Champion SSX Racing finished 14th last season, hobbled like many by the poor early performance of the pre-season favorites.

The team enters 2010 with an interesting lineup. They are the first team revealed to be using the Sauber chassis, and the first returning team to select the Ferrari engine. They are also the first to have the current WDC Jenson Button on their squad. All in all, it's a bold series of choices; it should be intriguing to see how it plays out.

Welcome back Dallas Diva Racing

Another founding member, Dallas Diva Racing is starting 2010 with a stable of former Ferrari drivers and the popular engine choice so far, Red Bull.

Welcome back Chencho & Cuco Racing Beat

This colorful team burst onto the scene in 2008 with a truly unique flair, and continues that style into 2010.

"The combination of our incredibly hot Pit Babes and our loud, obnoxious, Chicano music will keep rival pit crews on a suicidal sharp edge," said Team Principle Manuel. "Our mirror chromed wheels, multi level rear wings, Pepto-Bismol Pink Metallic(TM), Vomit Green Metallic(TM), and air ride equiped cars might ride low and slow but the sparkers in the rear will keep chasers from coming too close."

The official lineup for the team can be viewed at Chencho & Cuco Racing Beat Lineup

Welcome back Smokey Racing Technology

2005 Champion and founding member of the IFGP, Smokey Racing Technology struggled in 2009. They return with a revitalized lineup that features two former WDC drivers and recent WCC hardware.

The official lineup for the team can be viewed at Smokey Racing Technology Lineup

Team DINOpower withdraws

Citing timing issues and internal management reorganization, Team DINOpower has withdrawn from the 2010 competition. Although they had hoped to compete, all they ended up with was a carbon fiber toaster and a trip to Argentina.

The team has requested special dispensation to defer their entry, and expects to compete again in 2011.

Any resemblance to non-fantasy F1 teams is strictly coincidental.

Welcome back Taz Surfers

After two seasons competing as Smokin' Snakes, the team has new management, new ownership and new sponsorship -- Spicy Beans.

The team hopes to return to its multi-victory 2008 form after a 19th place finish in 2009.

The official lineup for the team can be viewed at Taz Surfers Lineup

Welcome back Red Bull Racers

After just missing the championship by a single point in 2008, the 2009 Red Bull Racers fell victim to the poor performance of Ferrari and McLaren in the early rounds. They fell behind early and were left with a hard decision: buy second half sponsorship, or retain enough cash to purchase the 2010 R&D.

The team chose to sacrifice the remainder of the 2009 season and focus on 2010. They expect to be back on the podium this season and again competing for the championships.

Welcome back Clingfilm Rockets

The 2006 Champion fell on hard times last season after pre-season favorites McLaren and Ferrari turned out to be non-competitive. The early season disappointments put the team in a financial hole which eventually led to a lack of second-half sponsorship.

Rather than make a lot of changes to the team and chase the hot setup, the leadership decided instead to focus on developing the 2010 team.

We begin by welcoming a new team, Slipstream GP

We don't yet know much about Slipstream GP, but the team principle Kyle seems enthusiastic about the competition.

A quick analysis of the team's choices seems to indicate a reliance on a top-flight car, with the drivers being less of a focus. Interestingly, this team is the only rookie team to hire a test driver at the start of the season.

We wish Slipstream GP, and all the rookie teams, good luck and a successful season.

Welcome to another new team, iBerg

iBerg is pleased to announce that they have been selected by the IGPF1 league to contest the 2010 season. iBerg is also equally excited about their successful partnership with their main sponsor, the Decepticons.

"The Decepticons are a great and glorious organization, and I think their motto of getting ahead at any cost and destroying the opposition works perfectly within the atmosphere of Formula 1," stated Team Principle J. Berg.

We also welcome Mikoji to the competition

"We start with the basic premise that it's good to look good," said Team Principle Ashley. "So, we chose our team based on team colors and how good the drivers look in their firesuits."

The rookie team played it safe and went with a full year sponsorship. While this is their first season on the grid, they have been watching and noticed the money troubles some teams have hit in the past.

"We don't want to have -two- rookie seasons because we don't have any R&D cash at the end of the year."
