Race Results

ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX

Again, one I didn't see yet, so nothing witty. The results are up here:

Again a crowded podium, with 5 teams up there. Podium winners, please have your press release published by Tuesday midnight.

I haven't run the numbers completely yet, but it appears that the IFGP has its first Rookie WDC and WCC. Congratulations to Team Really Green!

BRAZILAN GRAND PRIX

Shrapnel, boxing matches and flamethrowers! The Brazilian Grand Prix felt more like a short track Saturday night rather than the Pinnacle of Motorsports. If you haven't seen it yet, don't miss the beginning of this race!

In the iFGP, 6 teams crowd the podium and 12 are in the points. Podium winners, please have your press release published by Tuesday midnight.

JAPANESE GRAND PRIX

I didn't actually watch this race, so no pseudo-clever almost-spoilers this time. Since the storms in San Antonio woke me up early, here's the race results:

Many teams in the points, 5 on the podium. Podium winners, please have your press release published by Tuesday midnight.

SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX

Nelson may be gone, but that doesn't mean the the race will go smoothly. After the brake dust clears, over half the iFGP teams ended up in the points, and the points chase tightens.

Podium finishers please complete your press releases by Tuesday midnight.

GRAN PREMIO SANTANDER D'ITALIA

It's easy to think the races end after the pitstops. Apparently some drivers think that also, but the race isn't over until the checkers fly.

Congratulations to CBL Corse for the victory, and to Red Bull F1 and The Scarlet Racers for the podium positions.

ING BELGIAN GRAND PRIX

Who says F1 is boring and predictable?

Congratulations to Scuderia Globex for their first win of the season, and to Team DinoPower, WebberswebF1, and Team Really Green for filling out the podium.

GRAND PRIX OF EUROPE

It's the attack of the replacement drivers! Renault, Ferrari and Toro Rosso are all running relatively new drivers. Will they have a major impact? I'm not going to reveal any secrets here, but the crowded podium means 14 of 21 IFGP teams are in the points this race.

Congratulations to CBL Corse for the victory, and to Scarlet Racers, WebberswebF1, Team Really Green, Scuderia Globex, and Scuderia Modificata for filling a very full podium.

ING MAGYAR NAGYDIJ 2009

Everyone here at the IFGP continues to hold Felipe Massa in our thoughts, and hopes everything turns out well for him.

In the league, money management rears its head as sponsorship issues scuttle the would be first and third place teams. The penalties shuffled the standings, and bring a few new names into the points.

Congratulations to WebbersWebF1 for the victory, and to Chencho & Cuco Racing Beat and F1Galizia for the podium positions.

GROSSER PREIS SANTANDER VON DEUTSCHLAND

It appears that there may be new contenders in the 'Ring, as the German GP manages to miss the rain. 5 teams again crowd the podium, as the leaders struggle to break free of the pack.

Congratulations to Team BRR for their victory, and to CBL Corse, Scuderia Modificata and Gamma Blast for filling out the podium.

SANTANDER BRITISH GRAND PRIX

Five teams crowd the podium in Silverstone, and some of the season's strongest competitors struggle a bit. Is this a warning of a sea change?

Congratulations to Team BRR for their first win of the season, and to CBL Corse, Scuderia Modificata, WebbersWebF1 and Team Really Green for the podium finishes

TURKISH GRAND PRIX

In front of nearly empty grandstands, the championship battle continues to rage. Are we starting to see a change to the new status quo established this season?

Congratulations to CBL Corse for the victory, and to Scuderia Modificata, Gamma Blast Racing, and Team BRR for filling out the podium

GRAND PRIX DE MONACO

Monaco: storied, glorious, and unforgiving of mistakes. Which teams stuffed it in the wall, and which are spraying the champagne?

Congratulations to CBL Corse for the victory, and to Team Really Green, Scuderia Modificata and The Scarlet Racers for the podium finishes

GRAN PREMIO DE ESPANA TELEFONICA

The "2nd season" European leg starts in Spain, and many teams reveal retooled and reconfigured machines. Will the new diffusers and aero help the traditional power teams close the gap? In the league, the test drivers finally make their appearance known.

Congratulations to Scuderia Modificata and Team Really Green for the 'win' and to CBL Corse and Team BRR for filling out the podium

GULF AIR BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX

Amazing. A 2009 Formula 1 race that didn't involve rain gear, headlights or red flags. Just a clean, fast race in which the quickest teams on race day ended up on the podium. Were those quickest teams the ones people expected?

Podium finishers, please make sure to post your press release to the discussion board before midnight Tuesday Dallas time.

CHINESE GRAND PRIX

It's a Formula 1 race, so it must be raining. Weather scrambles the strategies, Safety Car scrambles the running order. Will the new power teams stay on top?

Congratulations to WebberswebF1 for the victory, and to Team Really Green and The Scarlet Racers for filling out the podium.

PETRONAS MALAYSIAN GRAND PRIX

Hmmm. Malaysia. Possible monsoons. Late afternoon start. What could possibly go wrong -- or right? Please don't look at the scores before watching the race, you'll want to see this one.

Congratulations to Scuderia Modificata for the second win, and to Team Really Green and Gamma Blast Racing for filling out the podium

ING AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX Results

The 2009 season brings new teams, new technology, and new hopes. Do the radical shifts on the track mean radical shifts in the established IFGP pecking order? Things might be changing now that Australia is in the books.

Congratulations to Scuderia Modificata for the win, and to Team Really Green and Team BRR for filling out the podium

Launch Week 2009!

Welcome back Scuderia Modificata

The 2008 champion only won 2 races in 2008, but an additional 8 podiums helped put the team over the top by 1 point.

"We're excited to defend our IFGP F1 championship," stated team principle Tillman.

"Honestly we think we're in a bit of a hole compared to the other returning teams, due to our need to focus so intently on the development of our car at the end of last season. Still, we hope to pull off the back-to-back championship. That's never been done in the IFGP F1 league."

The team also announced that the sponsorship from 2008 will continue. "Speaking of our sponsor, Bubba's Beer Bait and Ammo is having a banner year since October, and we expect that to translate into an even bigger and better Rovin' Redneck Hospitality Tent. Look for the Lone Star banners at a race track near you."

Welcome back Red Bull Racers

The junior team of the Rockets and Racers did extremely well in the 2008 season, winning 7 races and scoring an additional 3 podiums on the way to the closest finish in IFGP F1 history.

The Red Bull Racers may have won the 2008 championship had it not been for the loss of support from the Ferrari bakery for their catering. However by the end of the season it all came together as they challenged for the championship down to the last meters of the last race.

Welcome back Clingfilm Rockets

The 2006 F1 champion won 3 races and picked up an additional 4 podiums on the way to a 3rd place finish in 2008. The team has pushed for stability and a bit more reliability during the off-season.

The Clingfilm Rockets (formally the senior team until thrashed last season by the junior team) and Red Bull Racers announce stability in sponsors for the 2009 season. Clingfilm will stay with the Wheel Tappers and Shunts Social Club and Red Bull Racers with Crash Videos.

"Last year we [both teams] suffered from unreliability" stated Dr. Doctor at the recent press conference "but with stable partners this year we will focus on this."

Welcome back Scuderia Globex

The 2008 Rookie of the Year returns to competition for 2009. It appears that the team is hedging its' bets and positioning itself for a radical redesign post-Australia. The team starts the season with the lowest budget, a mere 29 million dollars.

Welcome back TheBackmarker!

"Anybody that turns money into noise is OK by me," states team principle Jayson. The Backmarker! is a perennial challenger in the IFGP F1 championship, winning one race and finishing on the podium 6 more times during the 2008 season.

The team is sponsored by Sidi, an Italian cycling shoe manufacturer.

Welcome back Dallas Diva Racing

One of the founding teams in the league, Dallas Diva Racing is sponsored by The Crafty Scrapper in historic downtown Waxahachie, Texas. The team finished 6th in the constructors championship in 2008 via steady scoring, and was the highest placed team to never finish on the podium.

Welcome back Lena Tecnologia

One of the stronger rookie teams in 2008, Lena Tecnologia showed consistent speed last season. The team scored 2 podiums and finished in the top 8 on the constructors championship.

"We are thrilled to have put the proper sponsorships in place for our sophomore season. In this rough economy we had to think outside the box to fill our money box," stated team principle Rob.

"For tires we found support with Michelin and our logo will be 'when you need to get there we're not sure if we'll be there'. For dash accessories we have partnered with Fuzzy Dice Unlimited of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They have provided us carbon fiber 0.1 drag coefficient 16 sided dice (outreach to our D&D fans) that will always be hanging from a side view mirror. Like last year we don't expect to always fight for a podium finish, but rest assured Lena Tecnologia will LAY it all on the line for results."

The official lineup for the team can be viewed at Lena Tecnologia Lineup

Welcome back TeamBRR

Team BRR aims to stretch the interest in Gran Prix racing to a new audience. The 2007 champion is targeting females with sponsorship by Sephora Beauty Products. BRR was fast out of the gate last year, winning the season opener in Australia on the way to 2 wins and 4 additional podiums.

BRR is the first of the returning teams to take a chance on the Brawn GP chassis. Sleeper or sucker? Australia will be the key to the season.

Welcome back SSX Racing

The 2004 champion is sponsored by Nintendo in the 2009 campaign. The team won in Monaco last season, and managed another 4 podium finishes. The team has chosen an unconventional BMW/Renault combination, along with 2 top drivers. Will this technique win another championship for the historic team?

Welcome back Smokey Racing Technology

Smokey Racing Technology is one of the founding teams in the league. The 2005 Champion returns to battle after scoring 2 podiums in 2008. Sponsored by Apple, the team features a Renault/Ferrari combination.

Welcome back Red Bull F1

Red Bull F1 returns to competition, again sponsored by Tim Horton's Coffee. Red Bull F1 scored 3 podiums last season, and should be very competitive this season. The Mclaren/Ferrari combination proved formidable last season and may dominate in 2009.

The official lineup for the team can be viewed at Red Bull F1 Lineup

Welcome back Chencho & Cuco Racing Beat

"The cars livery is designed to confuse the opponents. Our mirror chromed wheels, multi level rear wings, Pepto-Bismol Pink Metallic(TM), Vomit Green Metallic(TM), and air ride equipped cars; might ride low and slow but the sparkers in the rear will keep chasers from coming close," said team principle Manny. "In addition, the combination of our incredibly hot Pit Babes and our loud, obnoxious, Chicano music will keep rival pit crews on a suicidal sharp edge."

The team scored 4 podium finishes in its rookie season, and had it not been for a 55 point penalty for missing a post-race press conference would have finished in the top 8 in the constructor championship. This penalty was the largest ever assessed against an IFGP F1 competitor.

The official lineup for the team can be viewed at Chencho & Cuco Racing Beat Lineup

Welcome back F1Galizia

Another sophomore team, F1Galizia won a race last season, and scored 3 additional podium finishes. The team is expecting better results this season thanks to the new rules and the R&D development from last season.

The team expects to continue it's unique use of quantum technology to contest the 2009 races. Professor S of Estrella uno Internacional confirmed they will be using their the cutting edge parts used in the alternative quantum universe experiment last year to aid the F1Galizia team however exactly how we will have to wait and see.

Welcome back Smokin' Snakes

The Smokin' Snakes came on strong at the end of the 2008 season, winning 2 races and scoring an additional podium finish. The team hopes to improve on that rookie season in the 2009 campaign.

The Smokin' Snakes team are being sponsored by the internationally renowned white wine producers Breogan. Each member of the Smokin' Snakes team will receive an unlimited supply of Breogan's award winning white wine throughout the season. Of course, there will be no drinking and driving!

Welcome back WebberswebF1

After competing as DC'sCrazyCaz since the team's inception, the retirement of David Coulthard forced a name change.

"It was decided to enter the 2009 seson with a new team logo, driver line up and sponsor Ozzygas," said team principle Caz. "Ozzygas hopes that their secret mix will help to win more races than last year after coming last in 08, and make the car faster." DC'sCrazyCaz had a podium finish last season at Canada.

Welcome to a new competitor Gamma Blast Racing

"We're excited and completely frightened by the prospect of lining up on the IFGPF1 grid this year. Not from a competition standpoint, but when my wife finds out I've blown our recycled can money on funding this team the s**t's really gonna hit the wind tunnel fan," said team principle Chad.

"We are essentially starting from scratch after the new rule changes. Well, that and the fact that our revolutionary design proved to be about as aerodynamic as a brick. When that Honda Element passed us pulling the 2 jet skis during winter testing, I knew we may have to go back to the drawing board," he continued. "We've also learned the hard way that round tires are the way to go."

We also welcome Team Really Green

"It is with great excitement that we announce the launch and entry of "Team Really Green" ("TRG") in the IFGPF1 championship," stated team principal Fast_Ian.

"After many fruitless meetings with the "high tech" crowd here in Silicon Valley, CA we decided to broaden our search for sponsorship", said Fast_Ian. He went on to announce a multiyear sponsorship arrangement with the Hemp Industries Association. Fast_Ian continued, "While we were surprised at the ability of the HIA to come up with the necessary funding, we're obviously delighted that they found it somewhere."

We also welcome Team DINOpower

It is with great excitement that TEAM DinoPower announces its official entry into the 2009 IFGPF1 World Championship. TEAM DINOPower has been a dream of founder JayDub for many years and off season testing has proven to be exciting. According to JayDub, an error in TEAM DINOPower's copy of the rule book inadvertently stated the motor was to be a 2L V4 motor vs. the 2.4L V8 that TEAM DINOPower originally developed as they raised cash for this season.

"I think that we'll be competitive now that we've figured out that we can actually run the motor we started with," stated the team principle. "At the very least, we'll be a competitive Back marker."

TEAM DINOPower is proud to announce ArrogantBastardAle as their primary sponsor. "We're not sure what we're in for here with ABA.." States JayDub, "But we'll take it day by day. At least we get free beer out of the deal, so the pain will be minimal!"

Welcome to another new team, Ackmann Racing

With an unprecedented series of rule changes introduced ahead of the 2009 season, the new Ack4-42 represents a significant departure from its predecessor, the team principle said. While still retaining the distinctive family look established with both the Ack4-40 and Ack4-41, this year’s car is visually very different from its predecessors.

Incorporating new bodywork regulations and the much-heralded return of slick tyres, the team’s new challenger not only looks radical but also incorporates a host of new innovative features under the skin, such as a sophisticated kinetic energy recovery system (KERS).

We also welcome Team Scarlet Racers

"We are looking forward to the first race and preparations are moving ahead at full steam”, said principal Tele. “We are really excited to be here and to be given this opportunity to participate in the highest level of motorsports."

The team principal is cautiously optimistic heading in to 2009, "We have spent numerous hours in the wind tunnel, conference rooms and on the road in an effort to develop a competitive team”.

The official lineup for the team can be viewed at Team Scarlet Racers Lineup

We begin by welcoming a new team, CBL Corse

"CBL Corse is proud to announce its foray into the IFGP F1 world as a contender for the 2009 World Championship. After a successful season last year as Trojan Ferrari in another series where the team finished in the top 100 out of over 5,000 competitors, the team has decided to branch out to the greatest show on four wheels." the team principle Matt said.

The team is sponsored by Colorblind Clothing; a line by the team principal himself. "We will be wearing Colorblind apparel literally all the time. See that driving suit? It meets none of the FIA's regulations-but it does look good."
